Troy Parrott has officially signed with Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar from Tottenham Hotspur.

The move was finalised on Saturday for a fee of £6.7 million after the Irish international completed his medical on Friday.

Parrott has expressed his excitement about joining AZ Alkmaar, describing it as the “perfect club” for his career development after he departed from Tottenham.

In an interview with Voetbal International, Parrott shared his positive perspective on the move.

Reflecting on his decision, Parrott mentioned that he had heard many good things about AZ and had consulted with friends, including former Excelsior player Kenzo Goudmijn, whose insights helped influence his choice.

He emphasised that AZ Alkmaar is an ideal club for his growth, especially given his familiarity with Dutch football and life in the Netherlands from his previous loan spell.

Parrott believes that his experience last year will be advantageous as he integrates into his new team and continues to develop his skills.

He said:

“Before I signed here, I heard a lot of good stories about AZ and I spoke to Kenzo Goudmijn, among others, with whom I became friends when I played with him.

“I think AZ is the perfect club for me to take the next steps in my development.

“I will take with me the useful experience of last year. It helps me that I already played in the Netherlands last season and am therefore used to the competition and life here.”

Parrott joined Tottenham in 2019, signing his first professional contract and making his senior debut later that year. Despite his potential, limited first-team opportunities at Spurs led to multiple loan spells, where he demonstrated his talent and gained valuable experience.
