Chelsea are looking for £55 million to sanction the departure of their academy graduate Conor Gallagher amidst interest from Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou’s team are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of next season. They want to bring in a top-quality midfielder and have their eyes on Conor Gallagher. Chelsea are ready to sanction his departure with just a year left on his deal. But, according to a report from 90min, they want £55 million to part ways with their academy graduate.
With Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso’s future at the club uncertain, Tottenham do need to bring in a top-quality midfielder. Gallagher has been on their radar for a while and he is considered to be an ideal fit for Postecoglou’s style of play.
With just a year left on his contract Spurs do have a realistic chance of signing him but Chelsea do not seem interested in lowering their demands as they look for a similar deal to the £55 million agreement which resulted in Mason Mount joining Manchester United.
The 24-year-old was one of the standout performers for Chelsea in a season where things didn’t go that well for them. He was involved in 50 games and contributed towards 16 goals (7 goals, 9 assists). Tottenham believe Gallagher could help them take the next step but it will be interesting to see if they accept Chelsea’s demands.
The North London club value the midfielder between £35-40 million while the asking price is £55 million. With the PSR deadline of June 30 a thing of the past, the Blues are unlikely to lower their demands and if they do not get any suitable offers, they will look to extend his stay.
