Tottenham Hotspur will not be pushing for the signature of Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa.
Chiesa’s future has been the talk of the town for some time now. The Italian international is expected to be on the move this summer with his contract at Juventus running out. While he has been linked with a move to Tottenham on quite a few occasions.
According to a report from Football Insider, the North London club have decided to halt any pursuit of the services of the Fiorentina graduate.
Tottenham might have added Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall to their ranks but there is still a lot of work to be done. They want to bolster their attack and signing a world-class forward before the end of the transfer window is one of their priorities.
Spurs have been linked with Chiesa who has entered the final year of his contract at Juventus. But, the report suggests he is not a part of Tottenham’s transfer list.
The Old Lady want him around but they are not willing to meet his demands. As a result, they are ready to sanction his departure for £25 million. While the winger is available for a cut-price fee, Tottenham are unlikely to follow up on their interest as they have decided to pull the plug on any potential move for the Italian international.
Chiesa is looking for a massive £8millon-a-year in wages and it could be one of the major stumbling blocks for interested clubs. While Tottenham still seek attacking reinforcement, their priority is to have a new number nine lead their line.
