Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Sporting CP defensive midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

The 25-year-old has done quite well for the Portuguese outfit and he is a key player for his country as well. His performances have attracted the attention of top Premier League clubs, and journalist Ekrem Konur has now revealed that Manchester United are interested in signing the player as well. He has also claimed that the midfielder is keen on a move to England.

It is no secret that Tottenham need a quality defensive midfielder, especially with Yves Bissouma linked with a potential exit in the summer. Hjulmand could be the ideal replacement for the Mali International. He has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League and he could be a key player for Tottenham in the coming season.

Hjulmand could fancy a big move

The player is entering the peak years of his career and he will want to compete at the highest level. The opportunity to play in the Premier League can be quite exciting. Tottenham have an ambitious project and a talented squad. They could provide him with the platform to fight for trophies regularly.

The midfielder has an €80 million release clause in his contract, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay up. Sporting CP are unlikely to let a key player like him leave for cheap.

Meanwhile, Manchester United need a quality alternative to Casemiro, and it is no surprise that they are keen on the Denmark International. Ruben Amorim knows the player well from his time at the Portuguese club, and a reunion with him could be attractive for the player.
