Tottenham consider Fiorentina defensive sensation Michael Kayode to be an ideal replacement for Emerson Royal.

Emerson Royal has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. AC Milan have been in talks with Spurs to sign the Brazilian right-back and if things go according to plan, the South American ace should seen playing for the Italian giants next season.

According to a report from Firenzeviola, the North London club are looking at Michael Kayode as the perfect replacement for the outgoing Emerson. While they do have Pedro Porro in their squad and Archie Gray could also feature at right-back, Spurs need quality as well as depth and they feel the Fiorentina sensation could be a great signing for the long run.

Kayode has had an exceptional rise at the Italian club, he was promoted to their first team last summer and in his debut campaign, he was involved in 37 matches and even contributed towards five goals. He surely got a lot of opportunities last season but is expected to start the 2024/25 campaign behind Dodo in the pecking order.

While he still has four years left on his contract, multiple top clubs are looking to prise him away from Fiorentina who value him at around €30 million. They could lower their asking price just a touch with a month left on the window as they haven’t made any major sales this summer.

There is significant interest in him from Tottenham who have been looking at the Serie A on a regular basis to strengthen their team. They want a replacement for Emerson Royal who is all set to join AC Milan and feel Kayode is the right fit for them. But, they haven’t made a move yet and so far, there is only appreciation from Spurs. While Fiorentina wants keep hold of the 20-year-old, they are unlikely to block a move away as they do need to raise funds.
