Meanwhile, Tottenham bid for Marc Guehi towards the end of the January transfer window.
Spurs’ bid for Guehi made headines, but Spurs could be in for another Crystal Palace player in the summer.
Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on Market Madness, Tottenham are currently the team with the most concrete interest in Eberechi Eze.
Tottenham most likely team to sign Eberechi Eze
Jacobs shared what he knows about Eze and his future.
The journalist says that the England international will not be headed to Chelsea this summer, and that Spurs are the team most concretely interested in the midfielder.
“Yeah, I have a few little things to tell you about Eberechi Eze. So it’s no for Chelsea. That’s the first thing,” Jacobs said.
“I know we referenced that at the beginning of the show. But there’s two clubs in particular to watch, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. And I can add a third outside of the Premier League, which is Napoli.
“And right now of those three, Tottenham are the most concrete. And Eberechi Eze is very open, if not, it’d be his preference to stay in London. So that could give Spurs a little bit of an advantage.”
“I don’t think it will be a complete deal breaker, but he likes the idea of maybe leaving Palace, but still being able to stay in London. And that could open the door for Tottenham. Now this summer, there is a release clause at 68 million pounds, which will come back into force.”
How Eberechi Eze could emulate Harry Kane at Tottenham
Eze would be an incredible signing for Tottenham.
The Crystal Palace star has been lighting up the Premier League for a long time now, and he’d make a great addition to this exciting Tottenham attack.
However, what’s even sweeter is that Spurs would be getting one over Arsenal if they signed Eze.
Indeed, Arsenal released Eze at a young age, and now, he could become a star at Spurs.
Eze was hurt by his Arsenal release, but he could make up for that by joining their rivals.
“Getting released by Arsenal, it was obviously the first time I’d been let go or anything like that, so it was like ‘what are we going to do now?’ That was the biggest scare, the next thing was the confidence hit it takes as a child, all your friends are there getting their contracts, but you’re one of the only ones who was let go,” Eze said about leaving Arsenal.
Of course, Eze isn’t the first player to be released by Arsenal to become a star, as Tottenham know very well.
Harry Kane was in a similar situation as a young player before he became a legend at Tottenham, and who knows? Perhaps Eze could emulate Kane in that way if he headed to Spurs.
