Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Villarreal’s Álex Baena in the winter market, according to Fichajes.net.
Spurs have suffered five defeats in their last nine league games and are currently 10th in the table.
The 23-year-old’s preferred position is on the left wing but he’s operated in other attacking positions and in midfield. His profile is ideal for Tottenham because of his versatility and offensive qualities.
It’s claimed Tottenham see the Spain international as a ‘key piece to solve the problems’ that they faced in their midfield this season.
The versatile player’s deal lasts until 2028, and the report says it includes a €60m release clause. They add Ange Postecoglou’s side are considering tabling a ‘significant offer’ in the next window, without mentioning any figures.
Faced with Spurs’ interest, the Yellow Submarine could be open to a possible negotiation that could benefit all parties.
The north London club ‘dream’ of adding the player to their squad and could send a bid to Villarreal. If they were to receive an offer, the Spanish club would have to make a decision on Baena’s future in January.
