With the summer transfer window nearing its close, Tottenham Hotspur will be delighted with the transfer dealings they have done so far.

The Lilywhites have done well to clear the deck by releasing and selling players while loaning out some young talents and academy stars to aid their development. They have made some astute additions as well, but a few more additions could provide the depth and quality to tackle the taxing the 2024/25 campaign.

Ange Postecoglou has already added Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert and Dominic Solanke to his squad while re-signing Timo Werner on loan again from RB Leipzig as he looks to build on an impressive first season at the Hotspur Way. However, Tottenham may not have done yet in the transfer window.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are expected to do more business before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month. The Italian journalist has revealed that he expects the north Londoners to be busy in the last couple of days of the window while praising the club for keeping the bulk of their moves close to the chest this summer.

Romano’s latest update would be exciting news for Spurs fans, who have been extremely positive with how the club has conducted themselves over the transfer window. Several potential deals are being rumoured surrounding the club, with Juventus star Manuel Locatelli among the midfield targets. The north London side are understood to be preparing a bid for the Italy international, who is valued at around £20.3m by Juventus.

Tottenham splashing big bucks on Solanke is perhaps an indication that they would not go for another premium No.9, at least this summer. They may look to strengthen their options at left-back in the coming days.

Destiny Udogie is the undisputed first-choice left-back under Big Ange, with Ben Davies acting as his deputy. However, Davies is 31 and entering the latter stages of his career. Also, Sergio Reguilon is surplus to requirements for Big Ange and the club wants to offload him amid Barcelona’s interest. A move for a new left-back could largely be contingent on the future of Reguilon, who currently remains on our books.

The current situation leaves the Greek-Australian tactician’s squad slightly lacking in depth on the left side of the rearguard, which perhaps indicates why our club are actively looking to bring some much-needed cover in that position.
