Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been on the verge of departing North London in recent weeks.

According to TBR, Emerson has expressed his desire to leave the club for what he considers a “dream move” to AC Milan.

As part of their summer transfer activities, Spurs have been involved in negotiations to facilitate player exits, with the Brazilian full-back being a prominent figure in these discussions.

Although Tottenham are open to allowing Emerson to leave, they have set a price tag of at least £20 million. Milan’s initial offer, reportedly close to £15 million, was rejected, but talks are ongoing.

Royal lost his starting place to Pedro Porro since the Spaniard joined from Sporting last January.

And while he has not been the preferred right-back under manager Ange Postecoglou either, Emerson still made 22 Premier League appearances last season, starting in only 11 of those games. (Transfermarkt).

He played as a makeshift centre-back as well as a left-back during Tottenham’s injury crisis last season.

He has two years left on his contract with the Lilywhites, but wants regular playing time. The club also wants to cash in on him.

The player has reportedly already agreed personal terms with AC Milan. The proposed deal includes a five-year contract worth €3 million annually.

The former Barcelona right-back has acknowledged Milan’s interest and the ongoing discussions, highlighting the club’s historical connection with Brazilian players as a significant factor in his desire to move.

As negotiations continue, Emerson hopes that Tottenham will grant him the opportunity to fulfil his dream of playing for AC Milan. This potential transfer aligns with the club’s efforts to reshape its squad under Postecoglou.
