Timo Werner is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur from the German club RB Leipzig.
The Premier League side have an option to sign in permanently for a fee of around €12 million in the summer. However, a report from BILD via SportWitness claims that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is not keen on a permanent move for the German International.
The report states that the Australian coach is done with him and he wants the club to get rid of the player in the summer. Werner has not been able to live up to the expectations since the move to the North London club. He has scored just once in all competitions this season and it is no surprise that Tottenham do not want to keep him at the club for long-term.
Spurs need more quality and depth in the attacking unit, and they should look to invest in a dynamic forward who is capable of slotting into multiple roles. Werner is clearly not good enough for a club hoping to compete in the Champions League regularly and fight for trophies. The German has not been at his best in recent seasons and he has not managed to hit top form in the Premier League.
A permanent move away from English football would be ideal for him. He has previously shown his quality in Germany and he should look to join a club in the Bundesliga where he will get regular opportunities. Meanwhile, the player does not have a future at Leipzig either, and they will be looking to sell the player permanently in the summer.
It remains to be seen whether he can sort out his future at the end of the season and focus on his football once again. The German is still only 28 and he has plenty of time to get his career back on track.
