Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Juventus wing-back Andrea Cambiaso.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League and the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa are keen on securing his signature as well. According to a report from Caught Offside, the player will cost around €55 million.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to pay that kind of money for the player. They could certainly use more depth in the left-back department. Ben Davies will be out of contract at the end of the season and Destiny Udogie has not been at his best this season. More competition for places will help Tottenham improve as a squad. The Italian could prove to be an exceptional acquisition.
Even though the €55 million asking price seems like a premium right now, Cambiaso could justify the investment in the long term. It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is ready to loosen the purse strings to get the deal done.
Arsenal and Manchester City certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal across the line. Both clubs need more depth in the full-back areas and Cambiaso would be a quality addition for them as well. Arsenal need to find an upgrade on Oleksandr Zinchenko and Cambiaso could help them improve at both ends of the pitch. Apart from his defensive qualities, he is very effective going forward as well.
The 24-year-old could be tempted to move to the Premier League. Clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham will be attractive destinations for the player. They could provide him with the opportunity to compete at the highest level and fight for trophies.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
