With Ange Postecoglou under mounting pressure, Tottenham Hotspur are already being linked with potential replacements. However, fans aren’t convinced by one reported frontrunner, Andoni Iraola, whose recent form at Bournemouth has raised eyebrows.

Tottenham Hotspur’s performances this season have left plenty to be desired, and as a result, the pressure on Ange Postecoglou is increasing.

While Postecoglou has urged fans to keep faith in his project, reports suggest the club may already be preparing for life without him.

It has been reported that Spurs have compiled a shortlist of potential managerial candidates should they decide to make a change, with a mix of Premier League managers and overseas options in the frame.

Among those linked with the job is Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who has earned plaudits for his work with the Cherries.

Iraola has guided his side to the verge of European contention this season, with Bournemouth sitting five points off sixth-placed Chelsea.

However, his recent results have been far from inspiring. Bournemouth are winless in their last five matches, losing four of them, with their only point in that run coming against Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

With speculation mounting, we took to social media to ask Spurs fans whether Iraola would be the right man to replace Postecoglou.

The response was overwhelmingly sceptical, with many questioning whether he fits the club’s needs.

One fan said: “He shouldn’t be, not because of his recent form (all managers go through bad spells) but because he’s not the right fit. We need to stick with a high-possession manager, just one who does it better than Ange.”

Another kept it blunt: “No, plain and simple. He is no better than Ange.”

One supporter had mixed feelings: “I’m torn. Bournemouth play good football and punch above their weight, but is he just the latest trend? I think Frank [Thomas Frank] would be a better choice—level-headed, proven, and brings stability.”

Another fan pointed out: “Apparently, he’s great! Got tasked with two games in one week and bottled it against Ipswich at home… The overreactions on Ange considering the circumstances are ridiculous.”

One went even further: “He never should have been in the running. I said long before his form dropped that he’d be an absurd hire. No experience managing a 50+ game season, no experience handling high expectations.”

Another added: “Same issues as Ange from a playstyle standpoint. If you have a problem with Ange, you’ll likely have one with Iraola when things get tough. And let’s be real, this fanbase is fickle.”

Iraola’s credentials in question amid Bournemouth struggles

It’s clear that Tottenham fans aren’t convinced, with many seeing Iraola as too similar to Postecoglou in terms of philosophy. His high-intensity style has led to similar issues with injuries, something Spurs have also struggled with this season.

Of course, Iraola is still a young manager, and while he has impressed in spells, there are valid concerns about whether he is ready for a step up.
