Tottenham Hotspur captain Beth England will come up against her strongest competitor for the Women's Super League Golden Boot this season on Sunday as Manchester City come to town.

With Ange Postecoglou's men's side having gone down 1-0 to City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night, now it is the turn of Robert Vilahamn's women's team to tackle the Cityzens. Spurs are currently two places below the Manchester outfit in the table in sixth, but with 11 fewer points and having conceded the second highest number of goals in the WSL with 31.

However, they do have a goal outlet in England, who has notched seven this season in the league, which places her in third place in the top scorer standings behind only Arsenal's Alessia Russo, who has eight, and City's Khadija Shaw, who has 11 goals to her name and will be looking for more against Tottenham's defence this weekend.

In turn England will be trying to increase her tally and get Tottenham going again after a spell of three wins and draw was followed up by defeats to Manchester United and Arsenal.

In the past fortnight, the Spurs players have been dotted around the world while involved on international duty with their various countries.

Among the international displays, Jess Naz earned her sixth cap for England as a late second half substitute at Wembley Stadium on Thursday as the Lionesses beat reigning world champions Spain 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League.

Hayley Raso scored her 21st goal for Australia on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Colombia in their final game of the SheBelieves Cup. However, it was a goal made at Spurs as defender Charlotte Grant picked out Raso with a pinpoint cross and she took a touch before firing home. Raso added an assist in the defeat to the USA on Sunday, with Grant playing the full game and Clare Hunt an unused substitute for the Matildas.

Matilda Vinberg grabbed an assist on her third appearance for Sweden in a 1-1 draw with Wales in UEFA Nations League campaign on Tuesday night. Defender Amanda Nilden also started and played 82 minutes, while Josefine Rybrink was an unused substitute.

Luana Buhler played the full game for Switzerland as they fell to a 2-1 defeat in Norway, while Anna Csiki’s Hungary and Olga Ahtinen’s Finland faced off in Group Three of League B. Csiki played for 78 minutes, while Ahtinen came off the bench with 14 minutes remaining as Finland won 1-0.

Martha Thomas was a second half substitute for Scotland, playing just over 20 minutes at Hampden Park, as the Netherlands came from behind to win 2-1 win. Goalkeeper Lize Kop was an unused substitute for the visitors. Becky Spencer and Drew Spence helped Jamaica to a 2-0 victory over Peru in an international friendly on Sunday evening.

All of the Tottenham players will be looking to return with a bang to club football and grab a much-needed victory against City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
