Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been linked with a switch to Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur invested well in the summer transfer window to bring in some highly regarded youngsters with potential to reinforce the squad. However, results have been extremely inconsistent and improvements are certainly required to boost their top-four hopes in the second half of the campaign.
Having signed young talents such as Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray on top of breaking the club transfer record for Dominic Solanke, the chiefs at the Hotspur Way are looking to make further alterations to Ange Postecoglou’s squad at the turn of the year.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of the January transfer window. The England international will become a free agent at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), meaning he is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1 onward.

In what is a boost to Spurs’ hopes of landing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown claims that Everton will listen to offers for their striker in January in an attempt to raise some funds. The Toffees are now interested in signing a replacement for the 27-year-old, although it will be difficult to find a buyer for him midway through the season.

Brown’s latest update is good as a boost Spurs could get in potentially landing Calvert-Lewin for a bargain fee. Calvert-Lewin has made it clear that he has no intentions to sign a new deal at Goodison Park by rejecting multiple contract proposals. He wants to end his eight-year association with the Toffees, having arrived as a teenager from Sheffield United back in 2016.
The English striker has struggled with injury problems in the last couple of years, affecting the speed with which he was developing at one point. Yet, at 27, he has time to resurrect his career and a change in scenery may help.

Calvert-Lewin may be enticed by the prospect of playing for Tottenham and competing in Europe, although he will have to settle for a backup role with Solanke the first-choice striker under Big Ange. The Lilywhites desperately need a striker as a cover for Solanke, and on a potential bargain fee in January, Calvert-Lewin would be a sensible acquisition.
