Tottenham have received a major boost in their pursuit of Crystal Palace attacking sensation Eberechi Eze.
The North London club had an impressive summer transfer window where they bolstered their attack and added a few new faces to their midfield. But they did miss out on a few of their targets, including Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. Tottenham were looking to add more quality to their attack and they felt the versatile English international could have helped their cause.
They did fail to strike a deal for his services in the summer but according to Football Insider, Spurs have received a massive boost in the race to his signature. Ange Postecoglou’s team retain their interest in the 26-year-old attacking midfielder and they could return for him in 2025.
While Eze was not looking to force his way out during the recently concluded transfer window, the QRP graduate is now open to leaving Palace for a new challenge elsewhere. The release clause worth around £68 million in his contract had expired in the summer but it will reactivate in 2025, opening the door for a potential exit.
The release clause gives Tottenham a clear path to his signature. They will certainly be very encouraged now as Eze is keen on a move away and they won’t have to negotiate with the Eagles. Meanwhile, his arrival will significantly improve their attack. He will compete with James Maddison for a place in the starting XI and his ability to feature on the flanks will give Postecoglou multiple tactical options.
