Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu this summer.
The 19-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Italian club and his performances have attracted the attention of Arsenal and Chelsea as well. According to Calcio Lecce, Tottenham have now ‘approached’ the 19-year-old defender regarding a potential move.
The defender is reportedly valued at €30 million and it will be interesting to see if Spurs come forward with an official proposal to sign the player. The left-back is highly rated in Italy and he could be a quality long-term addition for the North Londoners.
However, they have Destiny Udogie as the first-choice left-back at the club and Dorgu might struggle for regular game time if he joined Spurs. The 19-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career.
Meanwhile, it is no surprise Chelsea are looking at full backs. Marc Cucurella was quite underwhelming last season and the Blues need more competition for places. They have already sold Ian Maatsen and Ben Chilwell is prone to injuries.
At Arsenal, Dorgu would be the ideal replacement for Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares, who do not have a future at the club.
All three clubs can afford the €30 million asking price for the young defender and it remains to be seen where he ends up. Dorgu needs to join a club where he will get regular game time. The player will want to join an ambitious project as well, where he can win trophies.
Whoever ends up signing the 19-year-old Danish defender could have a future star on their hands.
