The rumours suggesting Amanda Staveley will invest in Tottenham Hotspur continue to circulate, and now, it seems one important factor could help get any potential deal over the line.

Amanda Staveley heavily linked with Tottenham takeover

It has been a twisting and turning story already, but essentially, Amanda Staveley left Newcastle United in the summer, and has been eyeing up potential new footballing projects ever since, with Tottenham Hotspur very much on her list (Football Insider).

Daniel Levy has previously publicly revealed he is open to selling a portion of the club as he looks for investment to help Tottenham grow on and off the pitch.

While Staveley doesn’t have the money to buy a stake in the club personally, she has various connections in the Middle East and the USA who are thought to be keen to go into business with her and make a deal happen.

The problem is, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which supported Staveley’s move for Newcastle, is thought to be scaling back its football investments, which could hamper the businesswoman’s plans (Al Arabiya).

NFL could be key to Amanda Staveley’s Spurs investment

There still remains the issue as to whether Staveley herself would land on Tottenham as the choice for her next investment.

While she is thought to be keen on the North London club, she is also believed to be interested in French outfit, Monaco, too.

But, Tottenham Hotspur’s connection to the NFL could be the difference. According to The Athletic, Staveley met with NFL chiefs aside from her pursuit of Tottenham, but it is thought the club’s close ties with the sport may prove beneficial.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will continue to host NFL games next year and there is hope more matches can be played there in the future. Staveley was even spotted at the ground for the recent clash between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears.

Watch this space come the end of the season

I can’t see a deal being struck anytime soon here, as I think Staveley herself will want time to ruminate on her next move, and Daniel Levy will likely take his time, too. Carrying out any kind of takeover mid-season would be disruptive, but we could see progress by next summer in my opinion.
