Tottenham Hotspur are making waves in the January transfer market as they set their sights on Lens' promising centre-back, Abdukodir Khusanov. With the team’s backline suffering from a string of injuries in the early part of the 2024/25 season, manager Ange Postecoglou is eager to reinforce his defensive options, and Khusanov could be the ideal candidate.

The 20-year-old has emerged as a player of interest for Spurs, especially in the wake of the absences of key defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. Their sidelining has significantly contributed to a downturn in form for the North London side, making January reinforcements all the more crucial.

Reports suggest that Lens have placed a valuation of around €15 million to €20 million on Khusanov, a figure that has sparked interest from multiple clubs across the Premier League. Among these, Manchester City have reportedly made inquiries and are keen to resume discussions in the near future. Pep Guardiola is looking to inject fresh talent into his squad and could kick off negotiations with a bid of €10 million, aiming to rejuvenate his team ahead of the 2025 challenges.

However, Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit. Ligue 1 giants Marseille, PSG, and Premier League rivals Newcastle United are also in the mix, with Newcastle reportedly keen to bring Khusanov to St James' Park to bolster their Champions League aspirations.

Interestingly, Wolverhampton Wanderers currently appear to be front-runners in the race for Khusanov's signature. The Midlands club has initiated talks with Lens as they look to tighten their defensive line under the management of Vitor Pereira, demonstrating a serious commitment with plans to meet the club’s asking price.

Khusanov has made quite the impression since his move to Lens from Football Club Energetik-BGU last summer. Establishing himself as a vital component of the team, he has clocked up 31 appearances, 16 of which have come this season alone. His reputation as a top talent has drawn interest not just from England, but across Europe.

Contracted to Lens until 2027, Khusanov's future is the subject of much speculation. Whether Spurs or any of his other suitors can meet the asking price and persuade the young defender to make the switch remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Abdukodir Khusanov is a name to watch in the upcoming transfer window.
