Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to up the ante ahead of the transfer window slamming shut.
So far this month Spurs have signed just one player. Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky joined from Slavia Prague to provide cover for Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster, with the former expected to be out until late February.
The North London side have slipped to 15th in the Premier League with just seven wins all season, in a campaign that has been littered with injury problems. This has led to Ange Postecoglou coming under a lot of pressure in recent weeks. He has been crying out for reinforcements in defence and attack, but it looks like the Hotspur Way chiefs are emphasizing improving the middle of the park heading into the final week of the transfer window.
-> Tottenham open talks to sign midfielder capable ‘of creating something out of nothing’
According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has made it a personal mission to get a deal done for LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes. He has taken a keen interest in discussions that have taken place this month, along with technical director Johan Lange, in an attempt to land the diminutive Englishman.
Tottenham have already received a big boost earlier this month when it was reported that Angel Gomes prefers a move to White Hart Lane ahead of a return to Manchester United. The 24-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at Lille (Transfermarkt), where he has been since 2020 and racked up 131 appearances, scoring nine goals and supplying 19 assists. The England international has endured an injury-hit 2024/25 campaign, limiting him to only eight Ligue 1 starts.
Gomes is a prime target for Spurs due to him being on course to become a free agent at the end of the season, while the fact that he is a homegrown talent is something that is extremely alluring. These factors, coupled with his creative abilities, have caught the eye of the Lilywhites.
The aforementioned report adds Tottenham, as a result, are even prepared to offer Lille cash to sign Gomes in this transfer window if such a deal appeared feasible. As of now, though, the player has not yet decided his next destination with clubs like Man United and West Ham United also vying for his signature.

For Spurs, Gomes would fit the mould of the signings they have made in the last couple of seasons, a relatively young, dynamic talent with infinite space to grow. He has matured as a footballer over the years, and on a potential bargain fee this month, adding Gomes to Big Ange’s roster makes a lot of sense for Tottenham.
