Cristian Romero left the pitch after just over an hour as Tottenham Hotspur beat Aston Villa at the weekend.
The defender had to leave the pitch injured, and there were reports in Argentina which suggested furthers tests were on the way and that it could be a bone issue.
It was then clarified that it wasn’t a break, or anything of that magnitude, and stated that the player would be out of action… but only for a period of seven to ten days.
Argentina have now announced their squad for the upcoming international break, via TyC Sports, and Romero has been included in the list.
Theoretically, that could see him join up with the World Cup winners but miss Tottenham’s matches against Galatasaray and Ipswich Town.
Ange Postecoglou will of course be relieved the injury isn’t a serious, but there’s certainly going to be some worry that he’ll joining up with Argentina immediately following his recovery.
Rest may be the better solution, but Romero pulling out of the squad would be very unlikely indeed.
