The 20-year-old striker joined United in August, and made 22 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.
Seven of his games came as starts in Sky Bet Championship, with a further 13 from the bench.
Scarlett though has struggled for regular game time since the arrival of Gary Rowett as U’s head coach, featuring in only three league games out of a possible six, and his opportunities set to be perhaps further limited by the signing of fellow centre forward Tom Bradshaw from Millwall.
