Tottenham Hotspur are keen on the Atalanta midfielder Charles De Ketelaere.
The 23-year-old Belgian midfielder has been a key player for the Italian club this season and he is thought to be on the radar of several Premier League clubs. He was linked with Tottenham a few years ago.
According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham are ‘keeping an eye’ on his situation and they could look to make a move in future. They will face competition from North London rivals Arsenal.
Spurs need more creativity and goals from the middle of the park and the Belgian would be a quality addition. James Maddison has been quite inconsistent this season and Tottenham need more depth in that area of the pitch. The Atalanta midfielder has shown his quality in Italian football and he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League as well. The midfielder has 11 goals and 11 assists to his name in all competitions.
He could develop into a top-class player for Tottenham with the right guidance. He is young enough to improve further, and he could establish himself as a key player for the club in the long run.
Meanwhile, Arsenal need more depth in the midfield as well. They have been overly dependent on Martin Odegaard for creativity from the central areas. The Norwegian Internation needs more support and De Ketelaere would be an exceptional acquisition. It will be interesting to see which of the two English clubs manage to get the deal done. He is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition. He has a long-term contract with the Italian outfit and Atalanta will demand a premium for his services.
Spurs need to improve their squad if they want to fight for trophies and Champions League qualification. The Belgian will certainly help them improve. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in players like him over the next few months.
