Tottenham have made a deadline day bid to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. According to reports the offer was worth up to £70million and has been rejected.

Guehi has been a serious target for a number of top clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United. The Magpies were close to buying the 24-year-old in the summer but couldn't close out a deal.

It comes with Spurs still keen to add more cover at centre-back to Ange Posteocglou's squad. On Sunday they confirmed the arrival of Kevin Danso from Lens.

He has moved on an initial loan with an obligation to buy coming in at more than £20million. Subject to getting a work permit, the Austrian international could make his debut later this week in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg away to Liverpool.

Tottenham are still looking to make more moves before the 11pm deadline on Monday, February 3. They have seen talks break down with Chelsea over a loan for Axel Disasi, football.london understands.

Due to injury problems across the squad, Postecoglou is aiming to reinforce his backline. Radu Dragusin is the latest to be ruled out after suffering a knee issue.

Guehi, who is now an England regular and captains Palace, has been sounded out as a late option. Tottenham's attempts to get the England international have been unsuccessful, though, with Oliver Glasner's side not having enough time to find a replacement.

They lost Trevoh Chalobah earlier this window after Chelsea chose to exercise a recall option in his loan. Guehi is out of contract at the end of June, 2026, meaning he will enter the summer with just 12 months left to run on his current deal.

Palace are expected to field more bids for the player and no extension is likely. Guehi moved from Chelsea to Selhurst Park in 2021 for £20million. Chelsea have a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
