Tottenham will have to fork out a substantial amount of money to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
Ange Postecoglou is keen on reinforcing his squad ahead of next season. He wants to add more quality to the centre of the park and he is interested in the services of Aston Villa academy graduate Jacob Ramsey.
According to a report from Football London, Tottenham could prise him away from Aston Villa with an offer of around £50 million this summer.
Ramsey was promoted to Villa’s first-team in the summer of 2020 and he has gone from strength to strength since. He had an impressive 2022/23 season but couldn’t build on it last season as he struggled with injuries and missed quite a few matches. Despite the attacking midfielder’s limited game time last season, Spurs’ interest in him remains intact and they have enquired about his availability.
With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso expected to be on the move and Tanguy Ndombele’s release, Spurs need to add more quality to their midfield. While Lucas Bergvall will be joining them ahead of next season, they need more signings. Technical director Johan Lange is the one pushing for the signing of Ramsey from Aston Villa. He is a big fan of the 23-year-old and he was the major reason why Spurs had enquired about him during the winter window.
Tottenham had enquired about the English youth international who can feature as a number ten, a central midfielder as well as on the left flank back in January. Their interest remains intact as Postecoglou feels Ramsey could fit in well in his system. Spurs have enquired about him this month as well.
While suggestions of a formal offer being submitted have been played down, there is a growing feeling that the Aston Villa academy graduate could be prised away from Unai Emery’s side for a fee of around £50 million.
