Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount.

Manchester United seem willing to sanction the departure of Mason Mount just 12 months after signing him from Chelsea in a deal worth £60 million. He hasn’t been able to get going at Old Trafford because of injuries and they are looking to get him off their books.

According to a report from HITC, Tottenham have been made aware of Mount’s availability via intermediaries. The North London club might have added Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to their squad but neither of them is expected to be a regular starter in the initial years.

With Pierre-Emile Højbjerg on his way out and Giovani Lo Celso likely to leave the club this summer, Spurs want to bring in a top-quality midfielder who can help replace them.

They have been linked with quite a few midfielders and Mount could be a great option for them as he has a lot of experience playing in the Premier League. The Chelsea academy graduate can play in a variety of positions in the centre of the park and he is only 25 which means he has a lot of football left in him.

Things might not have worked out for him during his debut season at Manchester United as he struggled with injuries but the England international has the qualities to bounce back.

With the Manchester-based club looking to cash in on him, intermediaries have held talks with interested clubs and Tottenham were one of them. They have offered Ange Postecoglou’s team the opportunity to sign Mount and it will be interesting to see how they respond to it.
