Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has sent a message to international teammate and Premier League rival Marc Cucurella.

Both the Spurs man and Chelsea full-back started on opposing flanks at full-back during Spain's UEFA Nations League encounter with Denmark. The reigning European Champions ran out 2-1 winners to extend their lead at the top of the group, moving six points clear of the Dane's with just one match remaining.

Cucurella and Porro had differing matches with the Blues stopper forced to do defending during the contest, while the former Sporting CP defender was a creative force down the right for Luis de la Fuerte's side.

The 26-year-old was pleased with his evening's work in Copenhagen and took to Instagram to express his delight at Spain's qualification for the playoff. He wrote: "Great game from the team to qualify for the next round!

"Let's keep going!!" Porro was among the Spain stars to join in the plaudits for the defender. He commented: "You are so good."

Cucurella scooped the player of the match award in Chelsea's final match before the international as they came from behind to earn a draw against Arsenal. He said: "We finish now in the top four before the international break, so I think we are starting to do things well.

"It’s early and we still have a lot of games to play, but we need to be proud of the job we’ve been doing and keep working hard because the league is long and we want to stay at the top.

"We started a new project with a new manager and new ideas only a few months ago, so we need to be proud of the performance. We need to keep going at this level. If we play hard and train hard I think we can do good things this season. We have top players and a top young squad with a lot of ambition.

"For sure it’s early, so we have a lot of things to improve. Going into the international break third signifies that we are doing things well but we cannot relax. We need to keep working and be ambitious. We have the talent but we need to show on the pitch every week that we deserve to stay in the top four."
