The Tottenham mascot who pleaded with Virgil van Dijk to sign for the club prior to the Carabao Cup semi-final between Spurs and Liverpool issued a swift apology for doubting his team's players.
The youngster was waiting in the tunnel at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the players returned from their pre-match warm-ups, and as Van Dijk walked back to the visitors' dressing room ahead of kick-off, Spurs mascot Rocco shouted: "Van Dijk, come to Tottenham! We haven't got any good defenders at the moment!"
Tottenham has contended with a number of injury issues in defense this season, with first-choice pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven among the players who have missed a significant number of games.

Ange Postecoglou's side lined up with Radu Dragusin and 18-year-old Archie Gray against Liverpool and Spurs ended up keeping a clean sheet and winning the game 1-0.
Cheeky young Tottenham fan Rocco spoke to talkSPORT after the match, and said: "Right, what's up? So, I just wanted to apologise for what I said earlier. I'm sorry for my actions because we've got Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin!"
Meanwhile, Rocco's dad, Charlie, said of his son: "He's in the back of the car and he's got his tail between his legs. He was convinced that he did enough to get Van Dijk to sign for us.
"But about 60 minutes into the game he realised he made a big mistake and he knew that we only need [Radu] Dragusin and Archie Gray to see us through, what a performance.
Jamie O'Hara asked if Rocco had realised he'd gone viral on the night, and Charlie replied: "He didn't until his phone started popping off after it went on talkSPORT. He didn't watch the last ten minutes of the game, he was too busy looking at social media, but he's in the back of the car now."
