Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham’s former managing director, Fabio Paratici, could have an important role to play in the club’s January transfer pursuits.

Fabio Paratici continues to be involved at Tottenham

It has been 20 months since Paratici resigned from his position as Tottenham’s managing director of football due to his alleged involvement in Juventus’ capital gains scandal.

However, it has been well documented that the Italian has continued assisting the Lilywhites as a consultant, with Daniel Levy often turning to him for his input before making decisions.

Paratici continues to attend Tottenham’s home games, and he was spotted once again in Spurs’ 2-2 draw against Wolves on Sunday.

Alasdair Gold on Fabio Paratici’s role in January

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold also backs up that Paratici was indeed a guest in one of the boxes in the west stand’s middle tier. The journalist suggests that it might not be a coincidence that the 52-year-old was spotted so close to the opening of the January window.

Gold points out that even after leaving his managing director role, the former Juventus director has continued to assist Spurs in the transfer market. Paratici played a crucial role in the acquisition of James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, while also recommending both Brennan Johnson and Radu Dragusin to the club.

The Football.London reporter suggests that with Tottenham attempting to make some quick signings in January, Paratici’s contacts within the game and his relationships with various clubs could come in handy for Spurs over the coming weeks.

Tottenham would have already identified their top targets

One would assume that Johan Lange and Ange Postecoglou would have already settled on their top transfer targets for January, no doubt with some inputs from Paratici as well.

Unlike the Italian, Lange tends to operate in secrecy, which is why the media might not have caught onto the identity of Tottenham’s top targets in the window.
