Lucas Bergvall has opened up about the difference in the training approach under Ange Postecoglou at his new club Tottenham.
The North London club managed to beat the competition for the signature of Lucas Bergvall back in February as they struck a deal worth £8.5 million with Swedish club Djurgården. The teenager arrived at the club on Saturday and is nearing the end of his first week of training sessions at the Hotspur Way training complex.
While it has been difficult for the young midfield sensation to adjust to life in North London, he seems to be enjoying the added intensity, speed and power of the training sessions under his new manager Ange Postecoglou. During his interview with the club, Bergvall talked about how different the sessions have been at Spurs.
He said via Football London: “It’s going really well, this is a fantastic club with amazing players and amazing staff, so I’m really happy to be here and start pre-season,” Bergvall said in a club interview.
“Training has been really good, tough as well, so much speed and power. So, yes, it’s been tough, totally different from Sweden, but it’s fun as well. It’s a really important time for me, important to get to know everyone before the season starts so we can form that good connection.”
The 18-year-old midfielder has admitted that the approach in training at Tottenham is a lot different to the one he is used to having come up the ranks at Swedish clubs. The training sessions at the Premier League club are much more intense, similar to the intensity of the matches.
He might not be used to it but he has the quality to adapt. The teenager will be hoping to establish himself as an important player for his new club. Bergvall is all set to get his first minutes in a Tottenham shirt with the club set to play a behind-closed-doors friendly with League One side Cambridge United on Saturday.
