Tottenham have reportedly made an offer for Newcastle strike Alexander Isak.
Spurs are actively seeking a replacement for their current centre-forward, Richarlison, with a new striker.
However, their recent efforts have hit a roadblock as Newcastle United rejected Spurs’ proposal involving a player-plus-cash deal for the Magpies hitman.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Lilywhites pursued a deal that would see Richarlison and potentially some cash exchanged for Isak, but Newcastle switfly turned it down.
The Swedish international is currently under a long-term contract with Newcastle, with four years remaining. He has made a significant impact since his £63 million transfer from Real Sociedad in August 2022.
The 24-year-old had an impressive campaign in the Premier League last season, scoring 21 goals in 30 appearances, making him the third-highest scorer in the division behind only Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer.
Due to Isak’s stellar performances, Newcastle places high value on him and plans to retain him at St. James’ Park.
To sign Isak, Spurs would need to break their club transfer record. The club, meanwhile, is also open to offers for Richarlison, who joined from Everton in July 2022 for £60 million.
Despite demonstrating potential, Richarlison has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form, prompting the Lilywhites to consider selling him if a substantial offer is received.
The 27-year-old missed 10 games last season due to injuries, and even when fit, he often failed to deliver the expected impact.
Although Richarlison’s contract extends until June 2027, Tottenham are prepared to part ways with the Brazilian forward, who has yet to fulfil his potential at the club.
