Gil joined Tottenham from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 on a five-year contract for a fee of €25 million.

He joined with a high reputation but failed to make a mark at the club. In his first season, he logged only 85 minutes across nine league games, leading to a loan to Valencia in January, where he impressed.

Upon his return to North London the following season, Gil was loaned out again in January, this time to old club Sevilla.

His third season with Spurs began with an injury that sidelined him for several months. After recovering, Gil continued to struggle for regular playing time under new manager Ange Postecoglou, making only 11 Premier League appearances and totalling just 201 minutes on the pitch.
