Tottenham are reportedly plotting a sensational deal to hijack Scott McTominay deal from under Fulham’s noses.

That is according to The Sun, who claim that Spurs are now attempting to hijack Fulham’s £40 million move for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. The Lilywhites are closely tracking the Scottish international and are contemplating a bid.

Fulham had previously shown interest in McTominay and even had a bid rejected, with Manchester United setting a minimum asking price of £40 million.

The 27-year-old central midfielder is in the final year of his contract with the Red Devils, which expires next June, though the club has the option to extend it by one year.

With midfield options like Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes, and Mason Mount available, the report cites sources close to the club which claim that manager Erik Ten Hag is keen to keep McTominay but does not view him as a first-team starter. This could prompt McTominay to seek a move for more regular playing time.

And with Manchester United’s need to balance the books, they would be more than happy with a fee close to their asking price for a player in the final year of his contract.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be a big admirer of McTominay and sees him as a valuable addition to the squad.

McTominay had several standout performances during the 2023-24 season, starting in United’s FA Cup triumph against Manchester City. He scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, marking his best goalscoring season for the club. (Transfermarkt)

As Tottenham’s interest in McTominay intensifies, fans will be eager to see if the club can secure his signature and strengthen their midfield lineup.
