Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action on Thursday night with a tough trip to Stamford Bridge, and Ange Postecoglou has now given an important update on the fitness of key players ahead of the London derby.

Tottenham Hotspur head into the Chelsea fixture with a largely fit squad, as most players have returned from international duty unscathed. Postecoglou will be relieved as he finally has key men available for the crucial run-in.

Cristian Romero, who only recently recovered from injury, was pushed to the limit during Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers, playing the full 180 minutes. While that level of involvement might raise concerns, he appears to have come through unscathed.

Meanwhile, Micky van de Ven, another recent returnee from injury, was not called up for international duty. That decision has worked in Spurs’ favour, as it has given the Dutchman uninterrupted time to regain sharpness ahead of the Chelsea clash.

Richarlison, who has spent a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury to his calf, has now resumed training. The Brazilian forward’s return is a major boost as Spurs look to sharpen their attacking edge.

Lucas Bergvall, who had to withdraw from international duty due to illness, has also been spotted back in training, a promising sign that he could be in contention for Thursday night.

However, doubts remain over Kevin Danso and Dejan Kulusevski. Neither player was seen in the Spurs’ latest training footage, though Kulusevski has been dropping subtle hints about a potential return this midweek.

One confirmed absentee is Radu Dragusin, who is still sidelined with an ACL injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the Tottenham media team, Ange Posteocoglou has now provided further updates on the fitness of his Tottenham squad ahead of the clash against Chelsea.

The Australian said: “Kevin [Danso] and Deki [Kulusevski] are working hard still, they’re probably a couple of weeks away, but both are progressing well.”
