The need for a new forward has been growing at White Hart Lane, and we saw how Daniel Levy went aggressively in the winter market to bring in a new face in the offensive roster of Ange Postecoglou’s squad, and while the chiefs at N17 gather targets to go into the summer window, they have been looking to re-register their interest in English sensation Jamie Gittens, who is plying his trade in the German top tier with Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund’s transfer model of breeding ground for Europe’s elite
Dortmund has a reputation for being a selling club, a club that looks to prioritise developing young players and selling them off for significant financial gains when the players start to get into their strides. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, and Donyell Malen come to mind as some of the highlight players who have found their stride for the Bundesliga side before making a highlight transfer.
So, when you deal with Dortmund, you know… There is always a price for every player on their roster.
The €100 Million bidding war
Gittens is a highly regarded prospect who not only possesses flair but also has a great ability to take a grip on the game. He has been showcasing a lot of his talent with the German giants, having 15 goal contributions in all competitions. And Daniel Levy has put Tottenham Hotspur’s name among the potential suitors for a move for Jamie Gittens.
Though Spurs aren’t alone, according to journalist Christian Falk, the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are also in the running. He goes on to state that all the aforementioned Premier League trio of clubs are prepared to make substantial offers exceeding €100 million to acquire the highly rated talent.
Double trouble for Dortmund? Gittens and Adeyemi targeted by Premier League giants
While there is a probable bidding war waiting around the corner for Gittens, there is another BVB ace who is also targeted by multiple English top-tier sides in Karim Adeyemi, and this should complicate matters for the German side, given they could potentially go on to lose two of their highly acclaimed stars in the same summer.
As for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham, bringing in a talent with the ability and potential of Gittens prepares them perfectly to continue beyond Son Heung-min, who is linked with a move away from Hotspur Way despite the one-year contract extension.
