Tottenham ready new contract for £55m-rated midfielder this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been extremely pleased with how Lucas Bergvall has developed this season and are set to reward him with a new contract this summer.

Bergvall certainly found life at Tottenham Hotspur difficult in the first few months of the season after making the move from Allsvenskan last summer, with the youngster having a steep learning curve in the hardest league in the world.

However, even the teenager would not have dreamed of what has followed over the last few months as not only has he been able to force himself into Tottenham’s starting eleven but has become one of the club’s most important players.

Ange Postecoglou’s men are reliant on the 19-year-old to have a strong end to the season if they are going to go all the way in the Europa League, and there is a lot of excitement among Spurs fans about how the kind of levels the midfielder can reach over the next few years.

Tottenham have sent signals to Lucas Bergvall regarding new contract

Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt have now revealed that Spurs are ready to reward Bergvall with a new deal that reflects his importance to the side.

The report says that the North London club have already signalled to the player’s camp that they are ready to begin discussions on a new deal this summer.

Even though the Sweden international’s current deal at the club runs until 2029, Tottenham are prepared to negotiate a new, improved deal for the younger.

However, the outlet adds that it is not clear at the moment what kind of pay rise Bergvall will get this summer, with the midfielder currently taking home a modest £15k per week.

Fotboll Direkt also alleges that Spurs’ valuation of Bergvall has grown considerably over the last few months, given the all-around potential that the youngster has shown.

The outlet says that the Premier League side currently values the former Djurgardens man at 700m Swedish Krona, which works out to around £55m.
