Sampdoria are ready to sanction the departure of Giovanni Leoni for just €5 million amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are always on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long run and they seem to have found a gem in the Italian second division. Giovanni Leoni’s impressive performances for Sampdoria have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs and Tottenham are one of them.

According to a report via FC Inter1908, Sampdoria are ready to make their teenage defensive sensational available for just €5 million. But, they will only do so on one condition, the player has to be allowed to continue his development at the Italian club for at least another year.

Leoni joined Sampdoria on loan from Padova at the start of the year. The 17-year-old centre-back featured in 12 matches for the Serie B outfit and he even managed to find the back of the net once. His impressive performances and his huge potential have resulted in a lot of interest.

Napoli and Inter Milan are both keen on his signature and they will look to push Tottenham for the services of the youngster. Meanwhile, staying at Sampdoria for another year could be ideal for Leoni and he would get to continue his development with regular football.

Ideally, Tottenham should not have a problem accepting Sampdoria’s demands as Leoni will be a long-term prospect for them. They should focus on his development for now. It remains to be seen whether they can beat the competition for his signature.
