Alan Pardew is surprised to hear that Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a move for Eberechi Eze this summer, with the former Newcastle United boss making a claim about what the Crystal Palace star will be thinking about a switch across the capital to N17.

There is a lot of uncertainty about Spurs leading into the summer window, one of them being the future of their manager.

Various reports continue to indicate that Tottenham could replace Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season, which one would presume would impact their summer plans.

However, one thing that seems guaranteed is that Eze will be linked with a move to Spurs as he has been in almost every transfer window over the last few years.

In fact, the speculation has already begun, with various outlets over recent weeks claiming that Tottenham have identified Eze as their top summer target.

Alan Pardew laughs off Tottenham’s interest in Eberechi Eze

Landing the Palace man would undoubtedly represent a major coup for Spurs, especially given their issues in midfielders and in attack this season.

However, Pardew is of the opinion that Eze is among the best players across the Premier League, and he will not entertain the idea of joining the Lilywhites this summer.

Speaking to a Tottenham fan on talkSPORT, the 63-year-old said: “Did you say Eberechi Eze, by the way? What makes you think you’re going to get him? He’s Palace’s top man. Try and get him? He won’t go to Spurs. I can’t see it happening. He’s probably in the top 10 players in the Premier League at the moment.”

Spurs have to break the bank to sign Eze

The issue Spurs would have apart from convincing the England international to join is the high release clause in his contract.

We have already seen several sources claim that Daniel Levy is not prepared to trigger Eze’s £68m release clause, with the North London club trying to hammer out a cheaper deal.
