Tottenham Hotspur have rejected AC Milan’s initial offer for full-back Emerson Royal.
The Brazilian international is keen on making a move away from Tottenham in search of regular first-team action and AC Milan are pushing for his signature. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the North London club have turned down the Italian club’s initial offer for Emerson’s services.
The arrival of Ange Postecoglou last summer saw the former Barcelona full-back go down the pecking order at Tottenham. While he was involved in 24 games last season, the majority of those appearances came because of injuries at the back. With the 25-year-old not a part of the Australian manager’s plans moving ahead, he seems keen on making a move away.
AC Milan are interested in his signature as they look to reinforce their backline. The Italian outfit believes Emerson could be an ideal fit for their system and since he has a lot of years left in him, Milan have been working towards a potential deal.
They recently submitted their initial offer for the services of the Brazilian international. While Di Marzio hasn’t mentioned the details of their proposal, his report states that it was far from Spurs’ valuation of €20 million. A report from Gazzetta dello Sport suggests the initial offer might have been around €15 million including bonuses.
Emerson is not a part of Posetcoglou’s plans moving ahead and with just two years left on his deal, offloading him would surely make sense. While the player is also keen on leaving, Spurs might not have taken it into consideration while turning down their initial offer.
It hasn’t surprised Milan as they did see it coming despite having reached an agreement with the player on personal terms. The coming week or the next 10 days will be decisive for Milan as they look to strike a deal with Tottenham.
