Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Rayo Vallecano defender Andrei Ratiu at the end of the season.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the 26-year-old right back is on their radar and he will cost around €25 million at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with an offer to sign him in the summer.
They have Pedro Porro and Djed Spence at their disposal and signing another right back would be quite surprising. Tottenham should look to invest in a quality central defender instead. Meanwhile, there is no doubt that Ratiu would be a quality acquisition. He has shown his quality in La Liga and he has the physicality and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League as well.
Apart from being a reliable defender, he is exceptional going forward and he could add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
Ratiu is highly-rated in La Liga
Borja Jimenez from Leganes has previously claimed that the 26-year-old is “one of the best” full backs in the league and it is no surprise that top clubs are keen on securing his signature. Tottenham are not the only ones keen on signing the Romanian and they will face competition from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Roma and Bayer Leverkusen.
The reported asking price is quite reasonable for a player of his talents, and it will be interesting to see if Spurs decide to pay up. They have the resources to get the deal across the line.
The defender could be excited about a potential move to the Premier League as well. It would be the ideal step up in his career right now. He will look to prove himself at the highest level and the opportunity to join a big club like Tottenham could be hard to turn down for him.
