Tottenham Hotspur are willing to allow one senior star to terminate his contract in January as he looks to leave the club on a free transfer.
Spurs defender eyeing January exit
It came as a surprise to many when Sergio Reguilon stayed put at Tottenham in the summer as it was evident that the left-back was not in Ange Postecoglou‘s plans
Predictably, the 27-year-old has not made Spurs’ matchday squad on a single occasion so far this season and the defender is now reportedly making plans to seal an exit from the North London club in January.
It has now emerged that the Spain international is looking to terminate his contract and leave on a free transfer when the transfer window reopens.
Tottenham willing to terminate Reguilon’s contract
This update comes from CaughtOffside, who claim that although the left-back’s current deal runs until next summer, Spurs are willing to cede to his demands and terminate the final six months of his deal.
This is because the player is not in Tottenham’s long-term plans and the club are keen to get his salary off their wage bill.
A termination is seen as beneficial for all parties, with the Lilywhites expected to aid the Real Madrid academy graduate in his efforts to return to Spain.

Two La Liga clubs interested
CaughtOffside say that a return to La Liga is viewed as ‘ideal’ by Reguilon, who is looking for the right project to get his career back on track.
Sevilla, where he previously spent a season on loan, are thought to be interested in re-signing the 27-year-old, with the Andalusian club valuing the Spurs man’s experience.
Meanwhile, Getafe are also expected to vie for Reguilon’s signature if he is available on a free, with both Spanish clubs ready to start talks with the player’s agent.
