The Gunners are rumoured to have started talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the midfielder, who thrived during Spain’s victorious run at Euro 2024. Riccardo Calafiori is undergoing a medical ahead of his £40million switch to Arsenal, who are preparing to sell Emile Smith Rowe to London rivals Fulham, where he will join Ryan Sessegnon.

Man United face Manuel Ugarte and Morten Hjulmand price issues
Manchester United might be priced out of moves for both Manuel Ugarte and Morten Hjulmand this summer.
The Red Devils’ reluctance to meet PSG’s €70m asking price for Uruguay midfielder Ugarte has seen them consider Hjulmand as a possible alternative, according to speculation earlier this week.
However, Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha now claim that Sporting CP will only allow the Denmark international to leave if his €80m release clause is met in full.

Yang Min-hyuk set for Spurs medical after deal agreed
Tottenham have reached a full agreement over the signing of Yang Min-hyuk.
Reports first emerged last night that Spurs were close to securing a deal for the South Korean teenager, who will be immediately loaned back to current club Gangwon FC.
Fabrizio Romano has now given the deal the full ‘here we go’ treatment, with the player set to undergo a medical and sign a long-term contract with Spurs.
The 18-year-old winger will head to north London on a full-time basis in January 2025, after the conclusion of the K League season.
West Ham pushing for Jhon Duran
West Ham have submitted a cash-plus-player offer for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran
The 20-year-old is valued at £40m by Villa, with the Hammers’ latest bid coming close to that.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the offer is £32m with a sell-on clause, as well as Lewis Orford making the move to Villa Park.

Sarr set for Crystal Palace medical
Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Marseille winger Ismaila Sarr.

Man United patient in Ugarte pursuit
Manchester United are willing to wait to land Manuel Ugarte.
It has already been a busy summer for United, with Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro brought in early in the window.
PSG’s Ugarte is seemingly next on the wishlist, but United are currently unwilling to meet the £70m valuation for the midfielder.
GiveMeSport report that United believe PSG will drop that asking price as the summer goes on, particularly with Ugarte said to be keen on the move, and so are not in a rush to reach an agreement.

Arsenal target Spain star Ruiz
Fabian Ruiz has reportedly emerged as a target for Arsenal.
The Gunners are expected to strengthen in midfield this season, and Mikel Merino has been strongly linked with a move to north London.
However, Merino’s Spain team-mate Ruiz is now also on the shortlist, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
He reports that Arsenal have started talks with PSG, who are open to selling the 28-year-old. It’s said that a deal would likely be a loan with an obligation to buy.

Brentford suffer early Thiago blow
Brentford have confirmed Igor Thiago suffered a meniscus injury on his first appearance for the club.
The 23-year-old featured for the Bees against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday and scored twice in the 5-2 win, but he now faces a spell on the sidelines in a major blow to Thomas Frank’s side.
Thiago will have further scans next week to determine the severity of the injury, having already been ruled out of Thursday night’s friendly against Benfica.
Brentford signed the Brazilian in February for £30million, with the Brazilian then finishing the season with Club Brugge before joining up with his new club this summer.
Speaking last month, Frank named Thiago as the man to step up and replace Ivan Toney, should the England forward leave Brentford before the end of the window.
“Of course, we plan and then other things can happen,” Frank said.
“Maybe we are selling a player but we are prepared for that. It’s no secret that there’s lots of rumours about Ivan. If he is leaving us — and I’d still like to keep him, he’s a top player — this time we are prepared and brought in Igor Thiago.”

Chelsea in Lunin talks
Chelsea are believed to be closing in on the signing of Filip Jorgensen, but Andriy Lunin is reportedly still an option.
According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Real Madrid are willing to sell Lunin, and are in talks with Chelsea over a possible move.
It would see Lunin join the Blues in exchange for Kepa Arrizabalaga and a sum of money.

Arsenal ready to turn to Mikel Merino
With Riccardo Calafiori’s medical booked and a deal close to completion, Arsenal are now turning their focus to other transfer targets.
The Bologna defender is on the verge of sealing his move to the Gunners, after a final agreement was reached.
The Guardian report that Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is one of those who could now be pursued, with previous links suggesting a £25m offer could be enough.

Branthwaite makes stance clear amid Man United interest
Jarrad Branthwaite will not sign a new Everton contract unless they match Man United’s offer.
United had an offer of £45m plus £5m in add-ons rejected earlier this summer, with the Toffees holding out for at least £70m for their centre-back.
However, while Everton are pushing for Branthwaite to sign a new contract, the Daily Mail report that he will only do so if they table a deal similar to United’s contract offer of £160,000-a-week.
