Sverre Nypan in London for Arsenal talks

Sverre Nypan was in London on Sunday night for talks with Arsenal, reports claim.

The Gunners are trying to beat Manchester City in the race for Rosenborg’s midfield wonderkid, with Aston Villa also having made a pitch of their own.

According to the Daily Mail, Nypan travelled to London along with his family and agent Rafaela Pimenta for discussions with Arsenal on Sunday, having spent Saturday watching City beat Chelsea in the Premier League in the box of fellow Norwegian Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium.

It is worth noting that the 18-year-old has previously stated his ambition to play for Manchester United.

Man Utd set to launch third Patrick Dorgu bid

Manchester United look determined to sign Patrick Dorgu before next week’s transfer deadline.

The Red Devils are already believed to have seen two bids for the Danish left-back rebuffed by Serie A side Lecce, who are trying to resist their interest.

However, Fabrizio Romano reports that United will make a third approach for Dorgu early this week and are expected to move closer to Lecce’s €40m valuation with add-ons.

He adds that Dorgu - also wanted by Napoli - has already agreed personal terms over a switch to Old Trafford.

Barcelona still hoping to seal Marcus Rashford signing

Barcelona are still not giving up on a late January swoop for Marcus Rashford, it is claimed.

The Camp Nou is believed to be the England forward’s dream next destination as he pursues a new challenge away from Manchester United following more criticism from manager Ruben Amorim, under whom he has not played since the middle of December.

But having rejected moves to Saudi Arabia and Serie A, it seems that Barca are Rashford’s preferred suitors despite their difficulties in terms of getting deals done.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the LaLiga giants are still in contact over Rashford, but need Ansu Fati to leave first after he was left as an unused substitute again for Sunday night’s 7-1 demolition of Valencia.

The former Brighton loanee has struggled with injury this term and head coach Hansi Flick believes he wants to stay put.

Liverpool could hijack Arsenal with Jorrel Hato deal

Could Arsenal be hijacked by Liverpool in pursuit of Jorrel Hato?

The Gunners are understood to be long-term suitors of the 19-year-old Ajax defender, who already has five senior international caps for the Netherlands to his name.

But Liverpool have also been linked with Hato and were expected to launch a move in the summer transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, the Reds could now bring that move forward to this week and may get their man with an offer of around £25.2m.

Hato was rumoured to have been spotted in the crowd at Anfield during Saturday’s 4-1 win over Ipswich in the Premier League, with Ajax not playing this weekend.

Arsenal to learn Sverre Nypan transfer decision

Arsenal are hoping to beat Manchester City and Aston Villa to a deal for Sverre Nypan.

The Gunners are known to have been chasing an agreement for Rosenborg’s teenage midfielder, who is considered as one of the brightest young prospects in European football.

However, City were also said to have opened talks over Nypan, who travelled to Portugal late last week for a training camp with his current club.

Fabrizio Romano has a new update on the 18-year-old this morning, revealing that Arsenal, the City Football Group and Aston Villa have all now made their respective pitches to Nypan.

It’s now down to the player, who is believed to be visiting each club in turn before making a final decision.

Interestingly, it is said that City’s plan for Nypan would involve him initially joining sister club Girona on loan.

Angel Gomes wants Tottenham move

Tottenham may have received a much-needed transfer boost over Angel Gomes.

Spurs are trying desperately to pull off some new signings in the final week of the January window as they hit a new low with yesterday’s home defeat by Leicester, piling even more pressure on embattled manager Ange Postecoglou and deepening fears over a Premier League relegation battle.

But they could have good news over England midfielder Gomes, whom GiveMeSport claim is keen to join Spurs over the likes of former club Manchester United, Newcastle and West Ham.

The 24-year-old has been playing in France with Lille since 2020, though could be on the move back across the Channel in the summer.

Patrick Dorgu latest as Man Utd chase late deal

Manchester United continue trying to complete a late January deal for Patrick Dorgu.

The Red Devils are rumoured to have submitted two offers now for the highly-rated Danish left-back, 20, both of which have fallen short of Lecce’s valuation.

The Serie A club’s president, Sticchi Damiani, has now spoken out publicly on the transfer saga - insisting his club are trying to “resist” having to sell a prized asset in Dorgu.

“There are a series of situations in progress to complete the squad,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are trying to resist, as is logical, because it is in our interest to keep the players who are protagonists of this group.

“So far, our idea is to not sell anyone in January.”

Chelsea get boost over new top target Dean Huijsen

Chelsea are said to have a top new transfer target in their sights in Dean Huijsen.

The teenage defender has continued to go from strength to strength since joining high-flying Bournemouth from Juventus in the summer, playing a key role for a team who have excelled under Andoni Iraola.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea “really appreciate” Huijsen and have him high up on their transfer wishlist, though Bayern Munich are also believed to be watching him closely along with Real Madrid.

In a big boost to all his suitors, Romano says Huijsen has a release clause in his current Bournemouth contract that becomes active in the summer.

It is believed the clause could be worth somewhere around £54m.

Arsenal make huge Benjamin Sesko bid

Arsenal have made a huge bid to sign Benjamin Sesko in the last week of the January transfer window, reports claim.

The Slovenian international striker has once again emerged as a key target in north London as Mikel Arteta desperately tries to boost an attack depleted by the losses of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus to injury in the title race.

Sesko rejected Arsenal in the summer in order to sign a new contract at RB Leizpig, though it seems he could now be open to the move just a few months later.

According to Fijaches, Arsenal have now launched a major offer for the 21-year-old worth €70m (£58.7m).

Amorim casts further doubt on Rashford future at Man United

Ruben Amorim said he will play his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach before picking a player that “does not give the maximum”, as he criticised Marcus Rashford’s work ethic in training.

It was the Portuguese manager’s strongest answer yet on why he continues not to pick Rashford.

The England forward has made no appearances and been named in the squad just once in Manchester United’s last 11 matches in all competitions.

Rashford again did not feature on Sunday night as United laboured to a 1-0 win at Fulham despite another uninspiring performance.

“It is always the same reason,” Amorim explained.

When probed as to what that reason is, he replied: “The reason is the training. The reason is what I think a footballer should do in training [and] in life. If things do not change, I will not change.

“It is the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum and do the right things, we can use every player.

“And you can see today on the bench, we missed a bit of pace to go, to change the game. I will put [Jorge] Vital [on the pitch] before I put a player that does not give the maximum. I will not change in that department.”
