The start of the Premier League season is soon to get underway and all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to be busy. Indeed, the Gunners appear to be closing in on one of their main targets, with Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori now set for a medical after a deal between the two cubs was finally agreed. Viktor Gyokeres continues to be linked, too.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have been as active as ever and the Blues look ready to land a new goalkeeper. Filip Jorgensen of Villarreal seems to be the man the club have looked towards and reports suggest a deal has been agreed.

Fulham are closing in on a deal worth around £35million to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.

Smith Rowe was left out by Arsenal for their friendly win over Bournemouth in Los Angeles and the 23-year-old is now expected to finalise his move to Craven Cottage.

Riccardo Calafiori set for Arsenal medical

Good news, Arsenal fans!

After protracted talks, the Gunners are finally closing in on a deal to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.

Standard Sport understands a fee has been agreed with the Italian club, with a large percentage of the £40m sum due to former club, Basel.

A medical has been booked for the defender, who is expected to sign a five-year deal.

Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal has now received the patented ‘here we go’ treatment from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

He says documents are being exchanged between the clubs now after a final agreement over the sell-on clause was reached between Basel and Bologna.

Romano adds that Calafiori will undergo a medical in the USA, where Arsenal are currently on their pre-season tour, and sign a five-year contract until 2029 that does not contain the option for any automatic extension.

Riccardo Calafiori set for Arsenal medical after deal agreed

Arsenal have now agreed a deal to sign Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, writes Standard Sport’s Simon Collings.

As first reported by The Athletic on Wednesday, the Gunners are understood to have reached a total agreement with the Serie A outfit thought to be worth around £40million following weeks of negotiations.

A large percentage of that transfer fee is due to Calafiori’s previous club Basel, who are believed to have held their own talks with Bologna over recent days.

Calafiori is now set to agree personal terms with Arsenal and undergo a medical, with hopes that he will join up with Mikel Arteta’s squad on their pre-season tour of the United States.

Liverpool offered new hope over Dean Huijsen

Liverpool still look to have a chance to sign Dean Huijsen this summer.

The towering teenage Juventus centre-back - a Dutch-born Spanish youth international - is believed to be on the list of transfer targets as the Arne Slot era begins at Anfield following a productive loan spell at Roma.

Bournemouth and Stuttgart are both believed to have submitted offers for Huijsen, but Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that he has doubts about joining either of those clubs and will “take time to evaluate any new, more prestigious solutions.”
