The summer transfer window will close in less than a week, meaning time is of the essence for Premier League clubs still looking to add to their squads. The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are believed to be chasing late deals ahead of Friday's deadline.

Arsenal are expected to confirm the signing of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad, with only minor details left to be ironed out. The Gunners have also been linked with a big-money move for Victor Osimhen, who is also said to be a target for Chelsea.

United, meanwhile, are pushing hard to land PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte after weeks of protracted negotiations. The player is said to be keen on moving to Old Trafford but terms are yet to be settled at club level, meaning a deal is likely to go to the wire.

Maupay speaks out

Everton striker Neal Maupay has been linked with a move away from Everton this week, and has now hit out at club fans.

The striker was involved in an ugly confrontation with supporters at a train station in London on Saturday after the 4-0 loss at Tottenham.

"Imagine another job where it’s normalised to get abuse like this," he wrote on X. "Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best…"

Premier League spending down

Transfer spending by Premier League clubs is currently £800million down on last summer with the window closing on August 30.

According to Football Transfers, clubs paid out £2.3billion in the summer of 2023, but have paid out just £1.5bn so far.

The number of loan deals into the Premier League has also decreased, with only five so far compared to 26 last summer.

Palace back in for Nketiah

Crystal Palace are preparing to offer Arsenal a one-year loan deal for striker Eddie Nketiah.

Niketiah has been an unused sub for the Gunners in their two Premier League games this season, and was set to go to Marseille before an offer fell through.

According to the Daily Mail, Palace will submit their offer on Monday.

Man City admire Icelandic wonderkid

Manchester City have considered a move for Copenhagen striker Orri Oskarsson this summer, according to reports.

But The Athletic claim it is unlikely City will act on their interest in the 19-year-old before the summer transfer deadline.

Oskarsson, who has scored seven goals in 11 appearances this season, is still expected to leave Copenhagen over the coming days.

He has a £17million price tag and is admired by other clubs in the Premier League, as well as Porto and Real Sociedad.

City are still on the hunt for a new back-up to Erling Haaland after selling Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for £81.5m.

Chelsea at risk of Osimhen hijack

Al Ahli have submitted a bid in excess of £55million for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea have held extensive talks for Osimhen but the deal is proving difficult to complete.

Napoli are yet to respond to the Saudi club's offer, which equates to around half of Osimhen's reported release clause.

Al Ahli have also presented an offer to Brentford striker Ivan Toney, with personal terms said to be in place.

It remains to be seen how, or whether Chelsea react to the development.

Joao Cancelo move called off

Barcelona have withdrawn from the race to sign Joao Cancelo to Manchester City, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Barca reportedly wanted a discount on City's £21million asking price for the out-of-favour Portuguese, who spent last season on loan in Catalonia.

But the reigning Premier League champions didn't budge amid rival interest from Al-Hilal.

The Saudi Pro League are still hot on Cancelo's heels and could tie up a deal for the 30-year-old before the summer deadline.

Chelsea target proves his worth

Goalkeeping prodigy Mike Prenders has made a stupendous save which is capturing people's attention on social media after Chelsea's £17million agreement to sign him from Genk.

The move is yet to be officially confirmed but Prenders is all set to be unveiled by the Blues before returning to Belgium on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old's latest magical moment saw him spring to his left and dramatically tip a header onto the woodwork, which you can see below.

Chelsea propose Sancho swap

Chelsea could approach Manchester United with a swap proposal for Jadon Sancho, according to Sky Sports.

The Blues are said to be 'exploring' a deal for the winger, and they have not ruled out sending a player to Old Trafford as part of the move if it tempts United into doing business.

Juventus are also in the hunt for Sancho, who was left out of the matchday squad by Erik ten Hag when United lost to Brighton on Saturday.

United want to sell Sancho permanently but they have not ruled out a loan exit, according to reports.

Forest submit third Gimenez proposal

Nottingham Forest have submitted a third bid for Santiago Gimenez worth £28million, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Feyenoord knocked back the first two offers for their prolific striker, who has started this season with four goals in three games.

The fee offered by Forest would represent a club-record sale for Feyenoord if they are prepared to part with the 23-year-old Mexican.

Howe makes striking transfer admission

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has admitted he is 'not in control' of whether new signings are made before the summer transfer deadline.

The manager claims to have made it clear to Newcastle's hierarchy that he would like to beef up his squad, and will now play a waiting game over the next few days.

Asked if he is confident he will get new signings after Sunday's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, Howe said: "I don't know how to answer that.

"We’re not in control of it. We've made it clear we'd like to add to group. But they have to be the right players at the right price for short and long-term benefit of club."

Ivan Toney to Saudi 'very advanced'

Ivan Toney is closing in on a move to Al Ahli.

Saudi Pro League chief Saad Al-Lazez and sporting director Michael Emenalo are currently in London to finalise the deal, according to Ben Jacobs.

Toney has already agreed personal terms on a transfer that would see him leave Brentford after four seasons.

The Bees have left him out of the matchday squad taken by manager Thomas Frank to Liverpool this afternoon.

Man Utd agree to sell McTominay

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli, according to The Athletic.

He is set to join the Italian giants for a transfer fee of around £25m with a sell-on clause included in the deal.

The move now looks set to go ahead, subject to all parties being satisfied on player terms.

West Ham keen on Abraham

West Ham are weighing up a late swoop for Roma striker Tammy Abraham, according to Filippo Biafora.

It is said the Irons are monitoring him closely ahead of Friday's deadline.

However, it is said that Abraham's wage demands could be a stumbling block in negotiations.

Talks are reportedly expected to begin over the next few days.

DONE DEAL! Ipswich land O'Shea from Burnley

Ipswich Town have officially confirmed the signing of Dara O'Shea from Burnley.

The defender joins for a transfer fee in the region of £15m after signing a five-year contract.

Nunes completes Brentford medical

Gremio winger Gustavo Nunes has completed a medical at Brentford, according to Sky Sports.

The 18-year-old is reportedly set to join the Bees in a deal worth aorund £10m.

Brentford are expected to announce the signing of Nunes within the next 24 hours, provided everything goes to plan.

Chelsea weigh up Calvert-Lewin swoop

Chelsea are considering a late move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to The Sun.

It is said that he is viewed as an affordable alternative to Victor Osimhen, who is reportedly valued at £84m.

The Blues have switched their focus to cheaper players after being left stunned by Osimhen demanding a wage of £500,000 per week.

Juventus forward Federico Chiesa is thought to be another potential target.

Alisson commits future to Liverpool

Alisson Becker has insisted that he will see out his Liverpool contract despite being linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

"I want to honour my contract and finish my contract here or make a new one," he said.

"I am really happy here. My family is happy. I never got to the point where I was talking about wages.

"It was just interest, but when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting [in Saudi Arabia] you are a little bit attracted. That is normal."

Brighton set to sign O'Riley

Celtic star Matt O'Riley is poised to join Brighton in a deal worth up to £30m.

He travelled down for a medical earlier this weekend and is expected to sign a five-year contract, according to Sky Sports.

Celtic were said to have rejected several bids from Atalanta before eventually agreeing terms with Brighton.

The Scottish champions are thought to have a sell-on clause included in the deal.

Arsenal have leapfrogged Chelsea in the race to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, according to La Repubblica.

The 25-year-old has asked to leave Napoli this summer and is thought to be attracting interest from the Premier League.

Chelsea have been linked with Osimhen all summer but it seems Arsenal have emerged as his most likely destination.

He has a release clause of around £110m but Napoli are said to be willing to consider bids in the region of £84m.
