Transfer news LIVE!

Arsenal are still in talks to sign top midfield target Mikel Merino as Liverpool and Manchester United look to end the Gunners’ long-term interest in Martin Zubimendi by snapping up the Real Sociedad star. The Spaniard would cost a single lump-sum payment of £51million and will have to be convinced to move to the Premier League, but anything can happen in the final month of the transfer window.

Latest transfer news and rumours

Brentford man keen to leave after new signing in his position

Frank Onyeka is pushing to leave Brentford this summer, writes Dom Smith.

The 26-year-old has become frustrated at a lack of gametime, making just 11 league starts last season. While the Bees see him as a valuable squad player, Onyeka is ready to leave this month if an appealing offer arrives.

There was initial interest from Fulham and Everton in January, but formal bids never materialised and he remained at Brentford. His current contract runs until 2027 and includes an option for a further year.

Brentford yesterday agreed a deal to sign Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste in Onyeka’s position.

Cajuste is set to join on an initial loan deal, with an obligation to buy for £10million next summer.

Chelsea to surpass £150m transfer spend

Chelsea are ready to take their summer incomings to around £150million after agreeing a £35m deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion.

The 20-year-old has agreed terms on a seven-year contract as part of a move that is separate to the deal which will see Conor Gallagher join Atletico for a similar fee.

Chelsea have already spent more than £100m this summer on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo.

The Blues have offset those incomings with the sales of Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson, which have generated around £90m. They have also released Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva.

Man Utd plot audacious Barcelona bid

Manchester United have launched an audacious bid to sign Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutch midfielder has previously been tipped by Spanish media to be up for grabs if the Catalans are serious about landing Arsenal target Mikel Merino.

According to ManchesterWorld, United have made an initial enquiry.

They are said to be willing to pay up to £40m for De Jong, although Barcelona boss Hansi Flick is thought to be against selling him.

Conor Gallagher arrives for Atletico Madrid medical

Conor Gallagher has arrived in Madrid to finalise his move to Atletico.

Chelsea have agreed to sell Gallagher for around £35million and the England midfielder is due to undergo a medical in the Spanish capital on Thursday.

Gallagher touched down in Madrid in the early hours of Thursday morning and was filmed signing autographs as he left the airport.

The 24-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract at Atletico Madrid after he was convinced to move to the LaLiga giants by coach Diego Simeone.

Liverpool target skips training to force transfer

A wild story coming out of Italy this morning.

Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has skipped training to try and force a move away from the Italian club, his coach has revealed.

Rumours of a £45million transfer away from Bergamo have been rife since Koopmeiners helped his team win last season’s Europa League, with Liverpool strongly linked as Arne Slot eyes his first new signing.

However it is Juventus in pole position for the Dutchman and Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini has claimed that the player has already agreed to move to Turin, leaving his club feeling “blackmailed”.

“The situation with him was going very well until last week, then the player decided to go to Juventus,” Gasperini revealed to local newspaper L'Eco di Bergamo.

“He already has an agreement, he feels stressed and has decided not to play or train with us anymore.

“With this attitude he cannot be useful to the team, nor to his teammates. The club therefore has taken a very firm line, because we feel blackmailed by this situation.”

Spurs line up £65m Dominic Solanke swoop

Tottenham are interested in a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

Spurs want to bring in a new No9 and Solanke is one of their transfer targets. The 26-year-old has a release clause which is believed to be around £65m.

Solanke is coming off the back of an excellent season in which he scored 19 Premier League goals. Only Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland managed more.

Ange Postecoglou wants to add more firepower to his squad and Solanke is seen as a good fit for his style. Should Spurs meet his release clause, it would be a club-record fee.

Chelsea plan Samu Omorodion medical

Chelsea are set to put Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion through a medical.

The move for the 20-year-old is said to be worth around £35m and is separate to the deal which is set to see Conor Gallagher join Atletico for a similar fee.

Chelsea want to sign a new striker and Omorodion has been cleared to leave Atletico after the Spanish giants agreed an £81m deal to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

Personal terms on a seven-year contract have reportedly already been agreed, meaning only a medical and signature are left to conclude a deal.

Liverpool and Man Utd battle for Martin Zubimendi

Liverpool are confident of beating Manchester United to the signing of Martin Zubimendi.

The Red Devils have reportedly turned their attention to the Real Sociedad player having cooled their bid to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG.

Zubimendi is available for a £51m release clause although that is a single up-front payment, which could be tough to match up with PSR, and has previously rebuffed the idea of leaving San Sebastian.

However, teamTALK claim Liverpool are hopeful of being able to land a player who has also caught Arsenal’s eye in recent years.

Mikel Merino to Arsenal delay explained

Arsenal are still in talks to sign Mikel Merino.

The delay in the Gunners’ move for the Real Sociedad, which has been rumbling along for some time now, is said by Fabrizio Romano to be due to a lack of agreement on multiple parts of the deal.

Merino is keen to sign for Arsenal so it is all down to the clubs.

The structure of the deal and exact amount are still reportedly being negotiated.

Once a breakthrough is made between the Gunners and La Real, this transfer should motor on pretty quickly.
