Arsenal are among the clubs hunting further major signings as we approach the final weeks of the summer transfer window. The arrival of Mikel Merino is now said to be imminent to follow Riccardo Calafiori, with a whole host of attacking players still being linked with the Gunners too including Leroy Sane, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
Merino’s Real Sociedad and Spain team-mate Martin Zubimendi is believed to be eager to join Liverpool, with Manchester United understood to be targeting the likes of Sander Berge and Youssouf Fofana as midfield alternatives having failed to close a deal for Manuel Ugarte. Chelsea will announce the £34.5million signing of Samu Omorodion after a medical and are expected to continue their latest recruitment drive with deals for both Mike Penders and Gabriel Mec next as Conor Gallagher heads to Atletico Madrid along with Julian Alvarez.

According to David Ornstein, Mikel Arteta has now sanctioned the departure of Eddie Nketiah, who could join Marseille on loan before a permanent move on a five-year deal next summer.

Mike Penders to become Chelsea's eighth first-team goalkeeper but teenager set for loan back to Genk
Chelsea have signed an eighth first-team goalkeeper, with teenager Mike Penders joining from Genk.
The 19-year-old has impressed for the Belgian club's youth teams and has captained Belgium at Under-19 level.
Penders is set to join the Blues for around £17million on a deal running until 2032, but will be loaned back to Genk for the upcoming season. He would then return to Stamford Bridge next summer.

Guimaraes ends Arsenal and Man City talk in fresh Newcastle vow
Bruno Guimaraes has ended speculation about his future with a fresh commitment to Newcastle.
The Brazil international had been strongly linked with a move away from St James’ Park earlier this summer and was believed to have had a £100m release in his contract active until the end of June.
Arsenal had scouted the 26-year-old, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading midfielders since joining the Magpies from Lyon for around £40m in January 2022.

Jean-Clair Todibo set for West Ham medical
West Ham are working on the final details of a deal to sign highly-rated Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
It is understood that the 24-year-old has agreed personal terms with West Ham and will undergo a medical today. Todibo is initially set for a loan move to the London Stadium, and West Ham will have an option to buy for £34.2million next summer.

Antony confirms Manchester United decision
Antony has been strongly linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer, having struggled to convince since joining Ajax.
Still, speaking to the Daily Mail, the Brazil international has confirmed he will not be leaving the club.
“Rest assured, you'll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists!”, he said.

Tottenham in talks to finalise Dominic Solanke deal
Tottenham are in talks to finalise a huge deal for Dominic Solanke, reports claim.
The Bournemouth striker has emerged as a key target for Spurs this summer as Ange Posteocoglou looks to bolster his forward line.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reports this morning that Bournemouth are now willing to sell last season’s top scorer for a club-record fee.
He adds that Tottenham are continuing talks to finalise a deal for Solanke, who has apparently already agreed personal terms and is “desperate” to join Spurs.

Jean-Clair Todibo set for West Ham medical after Juventus hijack
West Ham appear to have been successful in their bid to hijack Juventus’ move for Jean-Clair Todibo.
The Hammers were said to have agreed a loan move for the Nice centre-back last month, only for a deal to stall as Serie A giants Juve got ready to muscle in.
But Fabrizio Romano reported last night that West Ham were now pushing for a permanent agreement worth €40m, with technical director Tim Steidten travelling out to France.
David Ornstein of The Athletic now says that an agreement has been reached on a loan deal that includes an option to buy, with Todibo set to undergo a medical with West Ham today.

Man United eye Sander Berge and Youssouf Fofana deals
Manchester United look to have found two potential alternatives to Martin Zubimendi and Manuel Ugarte.
The Red Devils appear to have missed out to Liverpool on the former, while they are said to be reluctant to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price for the latter.
Could Sander Berge or Youssouf Fofana be heading to Old Trafford now instead?
According to Sky Sports, United have already opened talks with Burnley over a deal for Norwegian midfielder Berge, who wants to make the move from Turf Moor.
Rumours also abound over a potential swoop for Fofana, who has been linked with several clubs this summer after a fine season with Monaco.

Chelsea to sign Samu Omorodion and Mike Penders
Chelsea look to be close to announcing not one, but two further new signings to continue their latest summer recruitment drive.
The Blues are preparing to confirm the £34.5m arrival of Samu Omorodion on a seven-year contract after the Atletico Madrid striker underwent a medical in Paris yesterday.
In addition to that, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano now reports that Chelsea have also sealed the signing of teenage Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders.
The deal will cost around €20m including add-ons, with Penders signing an eight-year deal at Stamford Bridge before returning on loan to Genk until next summer.
