Ange Postecoglou has shared the latest on injured centre-back duo Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero ahead of the massive weekend clash against Manchester City.

The North London club are coming at the back of consecutive defeats and will be hoping to bounce back with a win against the reigning Premier League champions.

They have already beaten them recently in the League Cup and have held a decent record against them recently. They will come into the game with confidence, however, they will have several key players out injured.

Among those out injured include Argentine centre-back Cristian Romero and Dutchman Micky van de Ven.

The 23-year-old Dutch centre-back has been out since late last month after sustaining a hamstring injury during the League Cup Round of 16 match against Manchester City, where he had to leave the game after just 14 minutes of play.

The initial hope was that Van de Ven could make a quick return after the international break. However, recent update by injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar suggest that the injury is worse than initially feared.

Cristian Romero meanwhile, picked up a toe injury against Aston Villa and subsequently missed the games against Galatasaray and Ipswich Town, both ending up in embarrassing defeats.

And while he managed to recover to participate for Argentina during the international break, he may have aggravated his injury as he lasted just 45 minutes of Argentina’s defeat to Paraguay, making him an injury doubt for the weekend game.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has now shared the latest on the duo ahead of the game on Sunday. Speaking to the press, he said (via The Standard):

“Happy for Cristian and his wife on the birth of their baby girl. He is still not 100 per cent so he is a doubt definitely for the weekend. Everyone else from the internationals got through well.

“Micky is still a couple of weeks away. He is on the grass training but he is still a couple of weeks away. We’re hoping by the middle of December he is back and available to play.”
