Wolverhampton Wanderers are closing in on the signing of a reported Everton and Tottenham Hotspur target.
The Old Gold have reportedly reached an agreement with FC Nantes to acquire the services of wonderkid defender Bastien Meupiyou on a permanent deal.
It was reported last week by our sister publication, Express & Star, that an offer of €5 million (£4.26 million) had been submitted for Meupiyou. Now, according to French outlet L’Equipe, the deal is nearing completion after Nantes accepted.

Wolves are said to have included some extra bonuses as sweeteners to seal the agreement and Meupiyou will now travel to England to finalise his move. The 18-year-old will sign a long-term contract with Wanderers and it’s understood he will not be loaned out this season.
Everton and Tottenham Hotspur had listed Meupiyou as a target earlier this month. This is according to HITC, with a report on August 14 stating the two Premier League clubs were keen on beating Wolves to Meupiyou’s signature.
Gary O’Neil probably won’t utilise Meupiyou immediately as the defender has only made one senior competitive appearance to date. He was one of Nantes’ most prized young assets, though, and he shone at youth level for several years.
Currently a France Under-18 international with three caps, the Paris-born centre-back has the potential to continue his rise through the international ranks. Wolves are hoping Meupiyou turns out to be a bargain signing, becoming a key player in the future.
