Sometimes all it takes for a player is time and a bit of patience and it appears that may be the case with former Tottenham youngster Jude Soonsup-Bell.
That’s at least if ABC Córdoba’s latest report on him is anything to go by, as they claim that the youngster ‘wakes up’ and starts to justify the decision to sign him in the summer.
The 20-year-old joined the LaLiga2 side from Tottenham’s U21s this summer after a year with Spurs following a move from Chelsea’s U21s.
He’s yet to really get going in Spain, with five appearances totalling 205 minutes to date indicating his new club are taking things slowly.
The wingers first start for his new club came in the defeat to UE Olot in the Copa del Rey earlier this week, though, and left plenty of optimism.
ABC report that despite the pessimism about the defeat and the level Córdoba showed, he was one of the ‘small positive notes’ from the game.
He started and scored his first goal for them and was a constant threat, ‘creating danger’ in the opposition’s penalty area whenever give the chance.
It wasn’t a perfect performance by the former Tottenham man by any means, but it was an indication that the ‘great bet’ of the club’s management is beginning to show his potential. He may even be handed more chances in the league moving forwards as a result.
His manager was certainly impressed and praised him after the game and the performance may have gone a long way to earning his trust.
The club are certainly hoping so as he was the ‘great promise’ of the summer window, a gamble that was justified by ‘big data’. He’s yet to justify that but this performance showed there is talent and is being seen as a potential starting point for more.
