The date for Milan to finalise their agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for Emerson Royal is pushed back yet again, but it should be done for €15m plus €2m in add-ons.

The negotiations have dragged on all summer and the fact that the player wanted this transfer has never been in doubt.

The Rossoneri haggled over every detail and Spurs had originally wanted €20m plus bonuses to part with the Brazilian.

That was gradually lowered, while Milan raised their proposal from €12m plus add-ons.

Milan and Tottenham decide Emerson Royal price

According to multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio and Calciomercato.com, the deal will eventually be done for €15m plus €2m in bonuses.

There were suggestions it could be done today, but once again the talks have crawled along and the date is put back by another 24 hours.

All parties remain confident it will not go beyond the weekend and he can fly in for a medical by the end of the week.

Emerson Royal already agreed a five-year contract with a salary worth €3m per season plus performance-related bonuses.

Milan are confident that Tottenham Hotspur will let Emerson Royal leave for his medical over the next 48 hours after months of negotiations.

The right-back made it clear earlier in the summer that he wanted to make the move to San Siro and agreed personal terms, but getting a deal done with the club was a very different matter.

According to Tuttosport and Tuttomercatoweb, the talks are now down to the final details and it could be all over within 48 hours.

The final cost of the operation is believed to be €15m plus €1-2m in performance-related add-ons that might be quite difficult to activate.

This is a significant discount from the original Spurs asking price of €18m plus bonuses, but still rather more than Milan had intended to pay.

Emerson Royal a long-standing Milan target

The 25-year-old has 10 senior caps for Brazil and his versatility has impressed the Rossoneri, as he can play as a right-back, in a more advanced role or even in central defence when needed.

His contract with Tottenham Hotspur only runs to June 2026, but they paid €25m to sign him from Barcelona in the summer of 2021.

Emerson Royal amassed 101 appearances in the Spurs jersey, scoring four goals and contributing two assists.

Milan are continuing to work with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Emerson Royal and hope to get the deal done this week for €15m plus bonuses.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, another meeting was held today with agent Sergio Castagna to discuss the details.

The player is very eager to make the move to Serie A and has practically agreed personal terms, save for a few minor issues.

Tottenham have been demanding €20m to release the player, but Italian media suggest a deal can be done by the end of this week for €15m plus bonuses.

Milan targeted Emerson Royal

The Rossoneri have made no secret of their interest in the right-back, whose versatility can prove useful as he also plays in central defence or in a more advanced right wing-back role.

Tottenham bought the Brazilian from Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for €25m and he is under contract until June 2026.

He made only 24 competitive appearances for Spurs last season, scoring one goal.

Milan are reportedly pushing hard to lock down an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for right-back Emerson Royal, as Alessandro Florenzi is set to leave.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the negotiations are non-stop for the Brazil international, who is only under contract with the London club until June 2026.

He was purchased from Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for €25m and has made 101 competitive appearances for Spurs, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

The asking price is believed to be around €20m, whereas the Italians are hoping to pay closer to €15-18m.

Emerson Royal not only Milan priority

While Milan intensify their pursuit of Emerson Royal, at the same time there are suggestions from transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano that Florenzi will leave despite having a contract at San Siro until June 2025.

They already released one defender, as Mattia Caldara was a free agent after his contract expired on June 30 and he has officially signed for Serie B side Modena.

Cairo warns Napoli, Inter, Juve and Tottenham: ‘Buongiorno not on the market’ - Football Italia
Description

Torino President Urbano Cairo warns Napoli, Juventus, Inter, Tottenham and more than Alessandro Buongiorno ‘is not on the market.’

The defender had already been approached by Atalanta and Milan in the January transfer window and is hot property this summer, with suggestions he could command €50m.

There are numerous clubs interested in the centre-back, with Napoli at the top of the list under new coach Antonio Conte, but also Inter, Juve and Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking at the Footballweek event this evening, Torino President Cairo was asked what price-tag has been set on Buongiorno.

“There is no price-tag because he is not on the market. We are very happy that he is with us,” was the response.

“We wish him all the best for a great European Championship with Italy and then we’ll see.”

Buongiorno expected to cost €50m

Sportitalia had reported last night that Napoli were raising their offer to €35m with bonuses, but that is probably not going to be anywhere near enough to convince Torino.

Buongiorno just turned 25 last week and only last year signed a contract to June 2028.

He is a product of the Granata youth academy and widely tipped to be the new captain of the team for next season, if he remains at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
